What is Data+?

Data+ is a modular extension suite for Qlik that adds writeback, planning, forms and workflows to your analytics. Data+ is available for Qlik Cloud and Qlik Sense and integrates into existing Qlik applications. Instead of a pure analytics dashboard, you get an interactive platform where data is read, captured, planned and passed on through defined processes.

From Analysis to Action – Directly in Qlik

Data+

Qlik provides the foundation for data-driven decisions. Data+ goes one step further and extends analysis with functions for working with data directly.

Capture plans and forecasts, edit and write back data, use forms, or map approval and workflow processes: Data+ brings these capabilities into your existing Qlik environment. A pure analytics environment becomes an interactive platform.

Data+ for Qlik Cloud and Qlik Sense

Data+ is available for Qlik Cloud and Qlik Sense and integrates into existing Qlik applications. Its modular design means the suite adapts to different requirements and use cases – from writeback and data capture through to planning and workflows.

Use Cases: Data+ in Practice

  • Budget and financial planning in Qlik

In many companies, budget processes still run on scattered Excel files: planning figures are collected by email, versions drift apart, and the status of the plan stays unclear. With Data+, financial planning happens where the numbers are already being analysed – directly in Qlik Cloud and Qlik Sense.

Departments enter budgets, forecasts and comments through Data+ Table and Data+ Forms right inside the Qlik application. Entries are written back into the data layer and appear immediately alongside actuals from ERP, CRM and upstream systems. Data+ Flow maps approvals, task routing and status transitions as an end-to-end workflow – including permissions by cost centre or business unit.

The result: integrated budget planning without leaving the application, with traceable planning versions, clear ownership and noticeably shorter planning cycles. Analysis in Qlik becomes a financial planning process you can steer.

  • Capacity planning in Qlik

In many manufacturing and project organisations, capacity planning is spread across several systems: project demand in the ERP, availability in the HR system, fine-tuning in Excel. Changes have to be reconciled by hand, and bottlenecks only surface once they've already hit.

With Data+, you bring demand, personnel and project data together in one interactive Qlik application. Project leads and team managers see utilisation and resource allocation in real time and plan directly in Qlik Cloud or Qlik Sense – no tool switching, no Excel export. Data+ Timetable maps tasks, projects and absences along the time axis, Data+ Table writes adjustments back, and Data+ Flow manages approvals and status transitions when work is reallocated.

Combined with Qlik Predict, capacity bottlenecks can be forecast early. The result: faster replanning, fewer overbookings and less idle capacity – and resource planning based on current data rather than file versions.

  • AI-supported financial planning with Qlik MCP and Data+ writeback

In many companies, forecasts are still built by hand: pulling figures from several systems, calculating in Excel, aligning scenarios manually. By the time the forecast is ready, costs, sales volumes or market conditions have often shifted again.

Data+ connects Qlik to AI agents via MCP (Model Context Protocol). The agent accesses live data in your Qlik environment, analyses plan variances, produces forecasts based on your existing company data, and develops new planning scenarios together with your controlling team. Through Data+ MCP writeback, the agreed planning figures flow straight back into the data layer – no export, no copy-paste, no additional planning tool.

Unusual values are flagged, and every change stays logged and traceable. The path from analysis to a reliable forecast gets considerably shorter – built on your existing Qlik investment rather than an additional platform.

  • Visual factory: shop floor management in Qlik

In many plants, the state of the machine park is spread across several sources: fault reports in the maintenance system, sensor data in the machine controls, shift notes on paper or a whiteboard. Anyone who needs a view of the whole site has to assemble it manually – and spots disruptions accordingly late.

With Data+, Qlik becomes a visual representation of the production site: machines are shown on the factory layout, their status is visible at a glance, and a click opens details on fault reports, sensor values and history. Maintenance and shift management document measures, causes and status changes through Data+ Forms directly in the application – entries are written back and are immediately available to the next shift team. Data+ Flow manages maintenance orders and approvals; Data+ Timetable maps maintenance windows and machine availability over time.

The production dashboard becomes digital shop floor management: spot disruptions earlier, cut downtime, make maintenance plannable.

  • Microsoft Teams integration: approvals where the work happens

Analysis happens in Qlik; alignment happens in Microsoft Teams. In practice there's a gap between the two: approvals are triggered by email, questions run through chat, and anyone who has to make a decision first has to log back into the Qlik app. Approvals stall, and planning versions drift apart.

Data+ connects both worlds. Workflows from Data+ Flow reach the responsible people as an Adaptive Card directly in Teams: the figure, the context and the available actions are all in the message, and approval takes one click in the chat or channel. The decision is written back to Qlik and visible there immediately – no tool switching, no status chasing by email.

Comments and questions stay documented with the record. Approval paths in budget sign-offs, sales planning or supply chain processes get noticeably shorter, and alignment happens where your teams already work.

    Interaktive Zusammenarbeit Data+

  • Dynamic org charts: connecting organisational structures with KPIs

Org charts usually live in PowerPoint or in separate HR software – disconnected from the metrics that belong to each unit. Anyone who wants to know headcount, turnover, personnel costs or utilisation per department has to switch between the structure view and the reporting view, and keep both up to date by hand.

An org chart in Qlik brings the two into a single view: the hierarchy is built from master data and refreshes with every data reload. Each node can display several KPIs, icons and colour coding – from HR metrics to budget consumption and status information. Selections filter the entire app down to one unit; hovering opens further detail.

Combined with Data+, comments, planned positions or responsibilities are captured at the node and written back. The principle works well beyond HR – for product structures, group hierarchies or bills of materials with status display.

  • ESG and sustainability reporting in Qlik

Sustainability metrics are rarely held in a single system. Consumption data comes from meters and sensors, emission factors from external sources, and details on suppliers, waste or mobility from questionnaires and site reports. It usually gets consolidated in Excel – laborious, error-prone and hard to trace as soon as an auditor questions where a figure came from.

With Data+, you build an ESG application in Qlik that combines both: automatically connected data sources and manual input. Site managers enter missing values, assumptions and evidence through Data+ Forms directly in the application, upload supporting documents via File Upload, and Data+ Flow manages the submission and its approval by the relevant department. Every entry is written back and stays documented with a timestamp and an owner.

Metrics such as energy consumption, electricity mix or CO₂ balance can be set against targets and prior years and simulated in scenarios. A reporting obligation becomes a basis for deciding what to do next.

  • Supply chain monitoring and supplier evaluation in Qlik

In many procurement organisations, supplier evaluation runs on a collection of Excel files: delivery reliability from the ERP, quality reports from goods-inwards inspection, certificates and audit results in folder structures. The evaluation gets produced once or twice a year – too late to respond to disruptions in the supply chain in time.

With Data+, you build an application in Qlik that brings hard metrics and procurement's own assessments together. Delivery reliability, quality rates and quantity variances come from the upstream systems; ratings, audit results, certificate deadlines and corrective measures are entered by the responsible people through Data+ Forms directly against the supplier. Data+ Flow manages escalations, approvals and follow-up; Data+ Timetable maps deadlines and review dates.

Problem suppliers become visible earlier, risks can be assessed by product group, region or single source, and the evaluation is current at all times instead of annual. Procurement works from one data set rather than scattered files.
