Qlik FAQ

Qlik is a software provider specializing in data analytics, business intelligence (BI), and data integration. Its key products include Qlik Sense and Qlik Cloud Analytics for interactive dashboards and self-service analytics, as well as Qlik Talend Cloud for data integration and data quality.

A distinctive feature of Qlik is its Associative Engine, which allows users to explore and filter data freely in any direction, instantly revealing which values are related and which are not.

Since acquiring Talend in 2023, Qlik has offered an end-to-end platform covering the entire data lifecycle, from data sources and integration to AI-powered analytics.

Qlik Sense is Qlik’s current analytics platform and can be deployed on-premises (client-managed) or as a SaaS solution. Qlik Cloud Analytics is the SaaS version managed by Qlik, offering access to new AI capabilities such as Qlik Answers.

QlikView is the predecessor product. It is still supported, but new licenses are only available as an add-on to Qlik Sense. Ongoing innovation and development are focused on Qlik Sense and Qlik Cloud.

For new projects, we therefore recommend Qlik Sense or Qlik Cloud.

When choosing a Qlik partner, look for their partner status, certified consultants, industry expertise, customer references, and training and support services.

Informatec is a long-standing Qlik Elite Partner – the highest partner tier – an official Qlik Authorized Training Partner, and a member of the Qlik Partner Advisory Council (PAC).

We have received multiple Qlik Partner of the Year awards in Switzerland and the DACH region and have held Qlik Expertise Badges in Healthcare, Financial Services, Manufacturing, and Retail since 2025.

Our offices are located in Muttenz (Basel), Wallisellen (Zurich), and Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany).

Qlik has not announced an end-of-life date for QlikView. However, new QlikView licenses are only available as an add-on to Qlik Sense, while new features such as AI assistants, automation, and cloud services are being developed for Qlik Sense and Qlik Cloud. For most companies, a planned, step-by-step migration is therefore worthwhile. As a "Move to Cloud Champion", Informatec specializes in migrating existing Qlik environments to Qlik Cloud.

Learn more about Qlik Migration

A migration to Qlik Cloud typically involves five steps: (1) assessing existing apps, data sources, users, and licenses, (2) cleaning up unused content, (3) designing the target architecture, including security, access permissions, and a gateway strategy for on-premises data sources, (4) migrating apps using the Qlik Analytics Migration Tool, including testing, and (5) rollout, training, and ongoing operations.

The duration of the migration primarily depends on the number and complexity of the apps.

Yes. With Qlik Cloud, you can select the region where your data is stored and securely connect on-premises data sources.

Companies that prefer to retain full control over their Qlik environment can use Qlik Sense Client-Managed, for example in Informatec's Swiss BI Cloud on Azure, which we operate as a managed service with a Service Level Agreement (SLA).

We help you determine which deployment model best meets your requirements under the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP), the GDPR, and your internal compliance policies.

Yes. With Qlik SAP Connectors and Qlik Talend Cloud, data from SAP systems such as SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, or SAP BW can be loaded into Qlik – including near real-time data integration using Change Data Capture (CDC).

With iVIEW for SAP, Informatec also offers a plug-and-play solution for connecting SAP to Qlik.

Qlik integrates AI at multiple levels: Qlik Answers is a generative AI assistant that answers questions in natural language, including questions based on unstructured documents. Qlik Predict (formerly Qlik AutoML) enables users to build predictive models without coding skills. Insight Advisor automatically suggests analyses and visualizations, while Qlik Automate automates workflows. Qlik Answers is included in the Standard, Premium, and Enterprise packages, while Qlik Predict is available in Premium and Enterprise.

You can purchase Qlik Sense subscriptions (Professional, Analyzer, and Analyzer Capacity) directly from the Informatec E-Shop. For Qlik Cloud, we can provide you with a tailored quote.

As an official Qlik Authorized Training Partner, Informatec offers certified Qlik training courses both in person and online in Switzerland and Germany.

You can also try Qlik Cloud Analytics Premium free of charge.
