From new segment colors and default book markets to all new functions of the printout editor. The September release offers many new features:

Since its release in June 2018, we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback about the value of Insight Advisor and how it proposes the best analysis and insights to explore. Qlik continues to focus on Augmented Intelligence and the release in September 2018 expands the use of Insight Advisor to include released Qlik Sense Apps to further promote data exploration across the enterprise.  This is just the beginning of how Qlik will transform the analytics community with the power of our Cognitive Engine, with even more AIs appearing in future releases!

In addition, Qlik continues its commitment to providing "QlikView-like" functionality in Qlik Sense, with Qlik focusing on Advanced Authoring.  The September 2018 release offers additional advanced authoring capabilities that allow customers to create sophisticated data layouts while increasing the speed of application development through ease of use.

This includes:

  • Better control over information density within the Qlik Sense client for devices that support touch and mouse input.
  • Default bookmark to set initial selection state when opening applications

  • The ability to turn off the client's responsiveness to individual sheet dimensioning.

  • Improvements to the expression editor, including direct links to help, restructured function categorization and improved search functions.

  • Improvements in visualization control, including conditional fade-in/out in pivot tables and customizable master actions.

We are pleased to announce another high quality improvement that meets an important customer requirement. The September 2018 release offers the ability to move multiple applications from stream to stream, eliminating the previous limitations of the Qlik Management Console (QMC). In addition, Qlik has made the investments to improve performance and stability by updating the open source front-end framework.

The September 2018 release will also provide enhanced mapping capabilities, including a new Density Map Layer, which is very useful when mapping data at a highly localized and detailed level. The Density Map Layer is a multicolor gradient background where the color intensity depends on the weighting and proximity of the points.  This map layer is useful for mapping data such as: Crime statistics, house values, etc. The release doesn't stop there, as Qlik has made further general mapping improvements for additional controls and data entry.

In Value-Added-Products, Qlik has strengthened Qlik NPrinting's administrative and advanced authoring capabilities, as well as improved security for report consumption.  For example, you can now import users/roles from an LDAP source and replace the TLS Cipher Suite if desired.  In addition, Qlik NPrinting now includes session logoff, report output in .xlsm format, and report level password protection.

Qlik further extends connectivity with Microsoft Azure DB and Jira connectors, while providing enhanced security with LDAP authentication within the integrated connector to Presto. More will follow this month for more SAP connectors!

Finally, the September 2018 release meets the mobile security requirements of large enterprise environments and provides full support for AirWatch EMM. As AirWatch is one of the fastest growing EMM vendors, it is critical for Qlik to become a Tier One vendor that can integrate well with and support this platform!

The highly anticipated Qlik Associative Big Data Index is expected to be released later this month through a new Early Access Program (EAP).  Please pay attention to further information in the next few days.
